Think you have a mental health problem? Here's what you can do:
Make an appointment to see your GP (family doctor) as soon as possible. You can use the postcode lookup tool on this page to find your nearest GP. Mind have a video about talking to your GP about your mental health.
If you don't feel comfortable discussing things with your doctor, you can contact the Adult Mental Health and Wellbeing team at Essex County Council.
Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health Service (EWMHS) caters for young people in Essex up to the age of 18, or up to 25 with special educational needs.
Improving Access to Psychological Therapies (IAPT) services are available from your local NHS Partnership Trust. You can be referred by your doctor, or you can refer yourself online. They also offer self-help online resources and have an index of mental health services in your area.
Your GP or a member of the community mental health team may suggest that your condition needs inpatient treatment in hospital. This would usually happen in consultation with you.
The Rethink website provides more information on going into hospital.
