Covid-19 Vaccinations for Social Care Staff

How to book COVID-19 Vaccinations (social care staff)

Booking Process (1st dose)

Important: Moderna COVID-19 Vaccination availability 22 & 23 April

There is an opportunity for all remaining health and care staff to access their first dose of the Moderna vaccine tomorrow (22 April) and Friday (23 April) from the Towngate Theatre in Basildon Town Centre as well as other local clinic sites.

Staff will need to book via the national booking system and use slots at the Towngate Theatre over 22 and 23 April.

You will need to self-declare as health and care staff and bring staff ID/payslip to the site to confirm your employment.

Important Update: National Booking Service (21.04.2021)

Booking functionality has been reinstated for health and social care workers.  Earlier this month, functionality for frontline eligible health and social care workers to book their COVID-19 vaccination through the National Booking Service (www.nhs.uk/covid-vaccination  or 119) through self-referral temporarily stopped. As of Monday 19 April, this functionality for frontline eligible health and social care workers has been reinstated.

Important information regarding 2nd dose COVID-19 vaccinations for care staff who received their 1st Pfizer vaccination at The Princess Alexandra Hospital (13.04.2021)

The Princess Alexandra Hospital (Harlow, CM20 1QX) will cease providing 2nd dose Pfizer vaccinations (to care staff who received a 1st does at the hospital) as of 14 April.

If staff are unsure of appointments and have not received a new one before this date, or are also having difficulties in receiving Pfizer boosters elsewhere, please email paht.shawcovid19@nhs.net for further information and assistance.

Care Homes

Care homes have been contacted directly by the NHS with booking links to be shared with staff. The staff then register and arrange their own appointments.

The emails were directed to the managers of each CQC service.

Please contact providervaccines@essex.gov.uk if you have not been contacted by the NHS

All other social care providers

In the first instance you will receive an email from ECC with the information you need. By now all social care providers in Essex should have received this email to enable their eligible staff to book a COVID-19 vaccination. The booking procedure varies slightly depending on where in the county you are.

No matter which of the processes you are asked to follow the email you receive from ECC will:

  1. Confirm that your staff are eligible for vaccinations
  2. Confirm you must prioritise your staff based on the JCVI definition of a frontline worker. The below table will help you identify eligible staff to put forward.
  3. Include x2 attachments for you to share with staff. The first is a letter of eligibility they must bring with them to their appointment and the second provides some information on consent.
  4. Include a link to the provider vaccines inbox if you have any queries

For any questions in relation to the email you receive, or if you have not yet been contacted, please email ProviderVaccines@essex.gov.uk
