Important message from Essex police

There is currently an identified series of burglaries whereby elderly care home residents are being targeted. We have so far identified 18 offences across London, Essex, Hertfordshire, Surrey and Hampshire. In each case entry is gained into the care homes by forcing open an external door or using insecure doors. Click here for more information and advice.

ECC Volunteering Initiative

ECC is keen to develop a volunteering initiative for their employees.

The concept is to develop a programme of team volunteer opportunities that support ECC service users and encourage more ECC employees to undertake team volunteer days. We would be interested to hear from our supply partners where they could identify opportunities to utilise this resource to make an impact on the wellbeing of ECC service users in their care.

For more information and how to get involved please read the full article here.

Essex Cares Limited awarded CQC Outstanding rating

In the South East Essex region, ECL's regulated service delivers short-term care to adults who require a period of intensive support in their own home to help regain their independence following a period of ill health, a spell in hospital or a change in circumstance at home.

The CQC awarded ECL the top rating of 'outstanding' for the way the service is led, how effective it is, and the level of care.

For more information about this excellent achievement please visit ECL's website

Beat the Heat - Keep residents safe and well

Keeping cool in hot weather is very important for health. In previous hot weather in the UK and Europe, people in residential and nursing homes were at particularly high risk of illness and death. Be aware of plans at your place of work for responding to high temperatures, including actions you may need to take to keep residents safe. Please see attached Public Health England flyer for more information.

Could you make a difference to a child's life

Foster carers with Essex County Council help build better, brighter futures for hundreds of children across Essex every year.

Could you provide a loving, safe, stable home and a nurturing environment to support the most vulnerable children in our county grow in confidence and achieve their potential?

You don't need any specific qualifications to foster, just patience, time and a commitment to improving children's lives.

To find out more come along to one of Essex County Council's local events where you can hear first-hand from experienced foster carers, find out more about the children that need foster care and ask a social worker questions.
